THE DUSKFALL - The Everlasting Shadows, MAYBE release end of 2018.

Friends of the fallen! (Whoop, it felt awesome to write those words again!!.) Mike here with some good news on what is going on with the band, the music and life in general.
What happened this last year? Well, we already had the pre-production of the album done and was about to start recording in January when Oscar, my friend and bandmate since 1992, suddenly dies of an unexpected heart failure only a few days before the birth of Charlie, his son.

As some of you know, I have been fighting with anxiety and depression for all my life and his tragic death affected me in so many ways. I was chocked, sad, and haunted by thoughts and questions that never could be answered. I lost the joy to play music and had no energy or motivation to focus on all the necessary work needed to be done to complete the recording of our next album.

In this dark moment, I strongly felt that I needed to do something for Oscar and his family and find myself something positive to focus on to stay sane. We recently had decided to re-release vinyl versions of the Gates of Ishtar trilogy on Century media records. I made this my project with a diehard commitment to ensure that the end result would be the best possible, both for the fans but also as a legacy of Oscar and his incredible musicianship. In the process I was able to take it one step further by suggesting that we would donate all members royalty money from the licences in favour of an account for Charlie until he is older and all of the guys in Ishtar agreed.

I have spent countless of hours on this project this last year and it still makes me emotional and full of respect when I think of the unconditional help instantly offered by many of Oscars friends with the ambitions of making the re-release a great tribute to Oscar and a great treat for our fans that has kept the memory alive all these years. Now it is done and I feel so proud of the fantastic covers, layouts, stories and of course the remastered music. The songs has been given new life and i hope they stand the test of time. It is finished.
Writing this, I am now full of energy and dedication towards recording our 6:th fullenght album with The Duskfall. I'm sorry for keeping you, the fans, waiting so long and I am eternally grateful for your patience!
I love and highly appreciate the fact that my bandbrothers have been so understanding for my situation even though they have been both frustrated and eager to share this album with YOU - the friends of the fallen! Thank you for that!

Now we are showing good progress and this album is my favorite one... ever. It will showcase a variety of songs with the trademark Duskfall sound and this time we will make no compromises with the production. Last album had a weaker production and that killed a lot of our trademark sound. That fact, combined with a new vocalist made us sound weaker and the songs never came close to their full potential.
This made us discuss some different ideas for the mixing of this album and we had plans on trying different engineers mixes and choosing the one we liked best. I talked a bit to some candidates but soon realized that the best way to get a committed engineer, have good communication and be able to work out the best terms for us as a band would be to commit to one guy.

In the end I made the choice to work with Marcus Garbom from our hometown Luleå for this recording. He is a nice guy and super talented engineer that will ensure that this album will kick ass in every way possible! I have heard alot of his mixes and know what we can expect of him. Can't wait to give you guys a listen and hear your feedback!

As a treat and a token of appreciation for your support, we therefore decided to reveal you the final version of the album cover for "the everlasting shadows". This is it! Made by our good friend and artwork mastermind Gustavo Sazes!

Enjoy and stay fallen! It's time!
